Shining Star Academy of the Arts -

After fifteen years of research, Mister Mac Behavioral Consultants, Inc. was approved by the Columbia County School District to open Lake City's first public charter school:"Shining Star Academy of the Arts". 
Public charter schools are tuition-FREE, privately managed yet publicly funded schools.
Shining Star Academy serves students from Kindergarten through 7th grade.
Shining Star's unique, arts-infused curriculum gives students a winning edge both academically and socially. Research confirms this creative and diverse method as a key developmental strategy.
Early introduction to the arts has been shown to improve classroom discipline, thereby improving all aspects of the learning process.
Shining Star Academy of the Arts provides a safe, wholesome learning center where students are encouraged to embrace our slogan: "Listen, Learn, Do Your Best, and Have Fun".

Shining Star Academy of the Arts provides organized student supervision after school hours for a nominal fee. Arrangements can be made during formal registration.
Founder and Educational Leader Anthony J. Buzzella is a native Floridian, born and raised in Miami-Dade County where he excelled in both academics and the arts.  He spent the summers of his high school years working as a counselor at the University of Miami while attending UM Summer Music Camp.     
He developed Florida’s original Sunland Training Center All-Mentally Challenged Concert Band as a community service project while attending Hialeah High School.  He was a member of the Miami Youth Symphony, All-County Band, Orchestra and Chorus under Miami-Dade music supervisor Howard Doolin.  Buzzella has been a professional musician and entertainer since the age of sixteen.
Through the years, he has shared the performance stage with several legendary musicians and entertainers including: Pete Fountain, Eddie Miller, Grandpa Jones, Alfonso Levy, Harry Wuest, Ben Champion, Gary Langford, Kenny Rogers, Jerry Clower, Chubby Wise and many others. 
His educational background includes a Bachelor Degree in Music Education with a minor in Psychology and Master of Educational Leadership Degree.
Buzzella’s educational and business experiences include having taught music on the elementary, middle, high school and college levels; serving as a Community College vocational education counselor for disadvantaged students, test administrator for Lake City Community College’s General Education Degree (GED) program; acting County Coordinator for Adult Education; administrator of a middle-high school alternative school for at-risk students; two-term Board Member of the Columbia County School District; educational grants writer; founder of MisterMac Behavioral Consultants, Inc. a 501-C-3 non-profit and MADDFEST (Music Art Drama Dance) Spring Arts Festival. 
Shining Star Academy of the Arts is the direct result of Buzzella’s life-long passion to provide motivational instructional services targeting educational reform for marginal adolescent children and artistically talented youth. The original concept was inspired by Buzzella’s mentor and long-time friend, the late Dr. Alfonso W. Levy.
